'85% uplift': Camelot urges Lotto retailers to get ready for EuroMillions megadraw bonanza

National Lottery retailers are being urged to be ready for the rush when two bumper EuroMillions draws are staged this week and next month – generating a claimed sales uplift of more than 85%.

This coming Friday (September 15) there will be a jackpot of €130m (around £115m) and this will be followed by a special draw on October 13, which will guarantee 13 UK millionaires. Friday’s draw is one of the biggest jackpots ever organised by Camelot and eight other EuroMillions countries and if no one scoops it, the prize will roll over.

James Pearson, head of retail at Camelot, said: “Whenever the EuroMillions jackpot gets to £100m or more, we see a huge sales increase – so next week’s special draw is sure to be a big seller. To keep the sales momentum going, next month, we will make 13 guaranteed UK millionaires on Friday the 13 – a sales opportunity that will definitely not prove unlucky for our retail partners!”

The two draws follow the new Allstars programme, which has been running over the summer to help independent outlets make the most of the lottery. The first phase of the programme has involved more than 28,000 store visits with retailers receiving over 100,000 new and additional permanent point-of-sale items – including pavement and door signs, floor mats and poster frames.
