The Executive Council consists of 13 Executive Officers. Members of the council collectively act as the NFSP’s ’Management Team’ and are responsible for running the organisation.  Members are elected every three years from each of the regions on the basis of one per 800 members or part there of. 

The council meets regularly and has collective responsibility for the management of the organisation. The Executive Council is divided into sub-committees. The principle ones being the Negotiating Committee and the Internal Development Committee. All decisions are made by (majority) vote and are binding on all Executive Officers. Elections for places on the Executive Council take place every three years (the next election will be in May 2013).
