The NFSP have recognised that subpostmasters increasingly need to improve, wherever possible, their retail offering. With incomes derived from the Post Office® counter either declining or becoming more difficult to generate, it is the retail business that is becoming a far higher priority.
At the NFSP, the commercial department is working hard to make a host of differing commercial opportunities available to members. Every single opportunity is designed to either generate additional profits and sales, reduce member’s general expenditure or simply to give members peace of mind that important retailing services are being professionally looked after. New opportunities are added every month with emphasis being placed on ’anything that is new’. As Rod Stevens, NFSP Commercial Director continually stresses, members will not substantially improve their businesses by simply saving a few coppers here and there but by adding new initiatives. Doing this they stand a real chance of making big step changes in their businesses. Changes that will satisfy their customers as well as improving the bottom line.
